About this Book

Kate Walker used to believe in true love and happily ever after. While her own love life may have left her brokenhearted, it hasn't kept her from churning out made-for-TV romance movie screenplays...until a major career slump and a longing to do something meaningful send her running back to her hometown of Maple Valley.
Permanently sidelined by an injury, former NFL quarterback Colton Greene is temporarily hiding out in a friend's hometown to avoid the media and the reminders of all he's lost. Maple Valley seems like the perfect place to learn how to adjust to normal life. The only trouble is he's never really done normal before.
While Kate plays things safe and Colton is all about big risks and grand gestures, they both get what it's like to desperately need direction in life. An unexpected project gives them both a chance to jumpstart their new lives, but old wounds and new dreams are hard to ignore. Starting over wasn't part of the plan, but could it be the best thing that's ever happened to them?

So I have been waiting and waiting to read this book. I read the novella Three Little Words and was hooked on Melissa Tagg’s writing! So what took me so long? I got busy and just never made the time to read From the Start, until now!

I absolutely LOVE Melissa’s writing style! She is fun, quirky, unexpected, and yet makes the story heartfelt, engaging, and impactful. From the Start picks up where the novella left off, although you can start with this book.

Kate Walker used to believe in true love. She is a writer and wrote made for TV romance movie screenplays. Now she is in a major career slump. She ends up back in her hometown of Maple Valley, which is a town I have come to love from Melissa’s writing.

As I read this book I was transported into Maple Valley. The flooding, the damage, the depot, it all painted an awesome town and the perfect setting for this book.

Colton Greene is a former NFL quarterback who is sidelined by an injury. He hides out in Maple Valley with a friend to avoid the media and reminders of what he has lost. Being a famous athlete is what Colton knows and living a normal life isn’t.

While Colton’s future is unknown, he needs help with a project Kate is perfect for. In what seems like the perfect solution for both Colton and Kate, the story takes a variety of turns filled with hurt, humor, and a budding romance.

This is just the top layer of this story! I seriously loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one, which I made a spot in my schedule to do right now. I’m off to read Like Never Before!
