The sweet smell of fresh apple bread filled the house as the bread baked and I finished cleaning up the kitchen from my baking test of the new Amish Gathering Cookbook: 25 Recipe Sampler (which you can download for free here) from Wanda E. Brunstetter.
The batter had such an ooey-gooey texture, it looked delicious (although it had raw egg, so I couldn't try it).
As the bread baked, the scents of tart granny smith apples, sugar, and cinnamon blended together in mouth-watering anticipation. After the loaves had time to cool, it was finally time to dive in. The bread had a crunchy crust and amazing, melt in your mouth, inside! The chunks of freshly chopped apples added a nice fruity bite to the great tasting bread. After the hit this recipe was at my house (one whole loaf was gone in less than 24 hours) I'm excited to try the other recipes in the full Amish Friends Gatherings Cookbook.
