I have been looking for a new devotional and I was really excited when I found out about Take Back Your Life by Levi Lusko. Levi is the founder and lead pastor of Fresh Life Church, located in Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, and Utah. He is the bestselling author of Through the Eyes of a Lion, Swipe Right, and I Declare War.
This hardcover devotional, which is a blend of Levi’s books Through the Eyes of a Lion and I Declare War, includes a key verse for the day, commentary (mostly stories) from the author, a prayer, and then an application section. The application section is a mix of questions for you to respond to and suggestions to help you work through the topic of the day.
I’m only partway into this devotional, but so far I’m really enjoying it. Levi’s use of illustrations to convey points has been insightful and helped me to better understand a point he was making or to see a belief I had from a different perspective.
I also like that each week has a theme and that there are suggested Scriptures to memorize in the back. The only thing I could say would be nice to have is a place to journal or write out my thoughts to the application section. I’m thankful I got a copy of this devotional and I’m excited to continue working through the forty-day journey the devotional provides.
